FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

WHERE THE STATION PÂTISSIÈRE STARTED...

I have always had a passion for photography my whole life but admittedly it has taken me a little while to discover what subjects inspire me the most.

It was a stroke of luck that has led me into the world of food photography. I remember making a particularly glossy jelly slice one day and was totally infatuated with how the light through the window reflected off of it.

After completely deconstructing our dining room, I spent the next few hours tinkering around with my makeshift "props" to compose and style an image that showcased that glossy red jelly. I had unknowingly fed a soon to be hyper-fixation.

One thing led to another, and soon my bookshelves were covered in lighting, compositional and styling books based around food. When I wasn't taking pictures, I was making the baked goods that featured in them. Suddenly our spare room was a studio and my complete happy place.

Today, my passion still for food photography and recipe creation is still very much relevant even if it has taken a bit of a back seat to other photography exploits over the recent years.

Below you will find a gallery of some of my favourite shoots I have done. Whether it be a focus on the colour, texture or process of the recipe, it gives me great joy seeing the evolution of my work from the humble starting image of my jelly slice.
